The first shortcut is for emails, some of you probably know that Control N will create a new item in whatever program you are in, so in Outlook when you are viewing an email folder it will create a new email, when in the calendar it will create a new appointment et cetera.
If you are not viewing an email folder but would like to create a new email then Control Shift M creates a new message no matter what folder you are in within Microsoft Outlook. Once you have typed the email and are ready to send it, Control Enter (also known as the Return key) will send the message. The only note I have for this is if you are using Microsoft Outlook 2007, this has not been saved, so the first time you use it, a message will pop up asking if you would like to save this shortcut. Selecting Yes will allow you to use this as you would in other versions.
The last set of shortcuts I will look at today are for changing what Microsoft Outlook objects you are using, this is for 2003 and above versions:
- Control 1 for showing mail folders
- Control 2 for the calendar
- Control 3 for Contact
- Control 4 for Tasks
- Control 5 for Notes
- Control 6 for the folder list
How can you tell which version you are using? When you have the program open, click on the help menu and select about. This will show you the program name and the version, for example Microsoft Excel 2003.
Have fun!
