BIT Blog – Excel Tables Tool
Do you work with lists and forget how to create calculations? Or just want an easy way to use your list? Try Tables. It arrived several versions ago but Excel 2007 and 2010 have made them easier to use.
You need to ensure your list does not have any blank rows or columns (complete blank rows or columns). The table can be formatted easily using the table format gallery.
There are two temporary tabs (called contextual tabs) that will show table options, both formatting options and extra functionality such as colours, heading and a total row.
The total row has to be my favorite. Many people I train have trouble remembering how to create calculations or what is available. The total row has a drop down in each cell with some common calculations (functions they are called), Sum to add, Average for the arithmetic mean and more.
There is quite a lot you can do with the table tool.
